The company has acquired patented technology from the CSIR – Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI), a premier national research organization, for the artificial cultivation of select marine red algae along the east coast of Tamil Nadu. This technology enables controlled, sustainable farming of Kappaphycus, a tropical red seaweed that grows optimally in shallow coastal waters.
Seaweed harvested and pre-processed at the shoreline is brought to our manufacturing unit for further value addition. The factory, located on a 4-acre site at Thennur Village, Kumbakonam Taluk, Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu, is equipped with modern processing machinery specifically designed for marine red algae and polysaccharide extraction.
Kappaphycus is a rich natural source of kappa-carrageenan, a functional polysaccharide known for its gelling, thickening, and stabilizing properties. The carrageenan derived from this seaweed is suitable for use in a wide range of food applications, including dairy products, meat and processed foods, confectionery, desserts, beverages, and other speciality formulations. Beyond food, it also serves as a versatile ingredient for cosmetics, personal care, pet foods, and pharmaceutical formulations.
