Seaweed Cultivation

Seaweed Cultivation

Prasmo Agri is directly involved in the sea farming of Kappaphycus along the shallow east coast, working with more than 1,000 fishermen families. Our cultivation process is designed mainly to support and protect the livelihood of underprivileged and elderly fisherfolk who can no longer venture into the sea for regular fishing.

Depending on the cultivation area and season, we adopt specialized farming practices. This red alga is usually cultivated by planting fragments of Kappaphycus as propagation material. The crop matures in about 45 days, after which it is harvested.

The harvested seaweed may contain impurities and foreign materials, which are removed at the seashore as part of the initial cleaning process. After this preliminary processing, the fresh red algae are transported to our factory for further processing.
